Does anyone sell a steering post/shaft Male spline with the popular 3/4 tapered size for these Char- lynn Helms w/female spline inside Helm ??

It seems most Bezels & Hubs are the 3/4 size offered aftermarket .

Don't mean to steal your thread C.T.but thought the info might be useful for you also.

Nice piece but doesn't fit the budget.Hence trying to adapt 3/4 parts.

Another question.

Do the Charlynn helm use an O-ring or pipe fitting ?

You could get them with both. The older ones were usually pipe thread.

The newer ones are -8 SAE 0-ring boss 3/4-16

I'm pretty sure the make the extension shaft with the 3/4 taper instead of the spline for the steering wheel end. I'll see if I can find one

Here's what i have, Char lynn Helm #211 1007 002 w/female spline with a 1" thick dash.

On a budget, any suggestions w/ part links for a winning combo to fill the gap from helm to wheel ? 3/4 or 7/8 doesn't matter.

Plumbers Crack has a Helm for sale for $150 and I bet it will work for you. PM him he is a member on SOS

Mine's a single.
Pg.132 of the Imco catalog breaks down some info for you on CC'S required with rod size & stroke.

In order to determine the right helm number I would need to know the bore and stroke of the steering cylinder(s).

The base part number 211 is correct. This denotes an open center valve.
1007 is a 4.5 cubic inch metering section. This determines the steering ratio depending on the cylinder sizes.
If it's a smokin' deal you can buy it and swap out the metering section for the correct one.

Another note for you guys. Since you are converting to full hydraulic.
Your steering wheel will not go back to the same position every time.

You could be driving straight and your wheel will be pointed some other direction.

I put a three spoke symmetrical wheel on my Donzi because of this.

Ok... I got the fittings and some of the long hoses made up today. Going to install the helm this weekend (hopefully)

Here is another question.. Do I really need a filter ? autos dont run them, most rock crawlers dont have them. Do I need one?
